Valentine's Day Festiveness

Tuesday, January 29, 2013

There are a million reasons why Valentine's Day is amazing. Cupcakes are one of them. Or in this case, six of them. My husband doesn't have near the sweet tooth that I do & since we are saving cake for Harper's first birthday, I whipped these up all. for. myself. I'm not even mad about it.  You can file these under how not to lose baby weight.

Heart Plate, Cupcake Recipe, Buttercream Frosting Recipe

My little Valentine has also been very festive lately, rocking her heart shaped elbow patches!

"Posing for a quick pic, mama. But then I gotta get back here & tear pages out of these books!"

Hat, Gap Outlet Jacket (similar here)

I grabbed this adorable Envelope Chair Backer right after Christmas (it's on sale now!) for all of Harper's Valentine's Day goodies!

So what exactly is going in her sweet little envelope? Here are a few of my ideas!

One. Two. Three. Four. Five. Six. Seven. Eight. Nine. Ten.

I love buying Harper books for every holiday & writing inside of them. It makes bedtime stories much more fun & I know we will love looking back at her old books as she grows up!
Kids are the easy ones to give Valentine's Day gifts to.... husbands, on the other hand? Not so much. We usually do something fun together like dinner & maybe a few small goodies. Think along the lines of these stocking stuffers! My go-to is usually some heart shaped pancakes, some sort of gadget from the hardware store (with a heartfelt note saying something along the lines of "Thanks for not being a TOOL!") and some festive balloons tied to mini-booze-bottles! :)
We are so classy over here.

What are your plans for Valentine's Day gifting?

Harper is such a doll! My valentine's gift ideas are along similar lines to yours! It's my birthday on the 14th, so Matt has to make more of an effort though ;-) xx

Hi! I'm a new visitor to your site, although I have known about your chalkboard "bumpdates" on Pinterest for some time now! So happy to have found your blog though. The ideas and baby items/gifts you post here are super cute and creative. How do you put together the items you find? Is it with a computer program or certain website (reminds me of Polyvore)?

We have the Romeo & Juliet book, my daughter loves it! I have little metal buckets (red for my boys, pink for my girl) that I tie a valentine balloon too and fill with little candies and a valentines card (and some other stuff just not sure what). My husband always gets a card and he "buys" (meaning i buy it) me a box of my favorite chocolates. He always forgets about valentines day even though I decorate and remind him!

Such sweet pictures of that precious baby girl! You've got some great ideas for Valentine goodies as well! Oh, and I just repinned the cupcake! Yummmm!!! My Megan's Valentines so far consist of a Dora baseball glove and baseball for toddlers....she tries to play baseball with the dog's ball and a bath mitt. Bless her heart. ;) She's also got some bath crayons, cowgirl boots, Crayola twist up crayons and a coloring book. She may get a few M&M's, as those are her favorite candy! Now my husband....well, I'm sure I won't see him on <3 day. He's Active Duty Army and I rarely see him during the week. He's good about surprises for me, but when it comes to him, it's rather difficult! A cookie cake from the Great American Cookie Company is usually on tap for him (he has a HUGE sweet tooth!) and I'll try and think of some other little prize for him. I'm sure we'll go have a nice lunch or dinner out that weekend. Valentine's Day has become so much sweeter since I had my baby girl. I love putting together little goodies for her! Oh, and your GroopDealz printable looks fabulous on my mantel with my other Valentine's decor!! :)

What's the name of this copycat blog? I've tried looking it up a few other times but could never find it....which is a good thing, I guess! I just want to be nosey and see for myself. Maybe we should all leave her a comment suggesting (nicely) that she get her own material! Bahaha

I'm so glad Harper was born five months before my little princess, so I can read all your monthly recommendations, and buy most of them! Lol My husband is in the Army and will be out in the field, so I'm glad I've got a tiny valentine to spoil at home.

Can you please please please write your post about exclusively pumping and doing formula for Harper? I had my son in May and wasn't able to nurse and it was the most devastating thing I think I have been through! Would love some tips on pumping for our second child (some day) ;)

Lacy, I just saw this and don't mean to intervene but I exclusively pumped (long story) for 13 months without having to use ANY formula (son had a dairy allergy) and went back to work full time doing it. If you have any questions that I can help you with, please feel free to ask. I would be more than willing to help. :-)
